convert-html-to-joomla-1-5-template

I have seen many tutorials on the internet on how to transform a html template into a Joomla 1.5 template. I have decided to add my own tutorial just for fun and hoping to help those who are new to Joomla and would like to use their old html templates. I also would like to thank all Joomla supporters out there who keep contributing free of charge information about Joomla.

This tutorial will focus on converting a html template into Joomla 1.5 template using kompoZer and pspad. You can use any number of editors like notepad. This tutorial assumes that you have basic HTML/CSS knowledge, enough to build a template that isn’t Joomla.

Click convert html template to Joomla 1.5 and follow my instrutions. If you come across any problems just leave me a note here. Good luck

kompozer-html-editor

KompoZer is a great open source free html editor I have been using for a few years. If you are looking for an html editor free of charge then look no further. KompoZer is a great choice for you to use. It is still in beta version 0.8b3 but more stable than it’s predecessor NVU, which is no longer supported.

Finally, here you have a top-notch WYSIWYG web page program to use for all those who have a strict budget or feel that there is no need to pay big dollars for something they know can be achieved using free html editors.

It has the following features:

  • FTP site manager
  • A new color picker
  • Tabs!
  • CSS editor
  • A dash of style(s)
  • Customizable toolbars
  • Forms
  • Cleaner markup
  • XFN
  • Visible marks
  • Table/Cell resizing rulers
  • Automated Spellchecker

KompoZer is designed to be extremely easy to use for professionals or novice who have very little or no idea about web developing, html and css.  Many use this program for education purposes. It’s editing capabilities compares with big name editors in the field like Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe DreamWeaver and other high end programs.

Because it is still in beta version and it has a few bugs I use pspad to help with the code. Both compliment each other very well. KompoZer allows you to use an external editor and then save it and view it in KompoZer. Another great factor about this great editor is that you can run it within its own folder, so you don’t have to install it in your computer. Simply download the zip version and extract it to a folder or external usb drive. It becomes a powerful portable web designer software that you can carry with you in your usb memory stick.

Visit my KompoZer tutorial website to help you get started. I keep updating my tutorial so come back as many times as you like. You can post a comment here or simply send me an e-mail if you need some help.
